We are excited about the start of our project to build a new football field and track. SMA Architects and Dick Anderson Construction, our general contractor, are in the process of getting bids for the work, which we hope will begin soon. We are planning on an all-weather track and crowning the football field — hopefully, in time for the start of the next school year. There will be several other improvements that will be determined by the bid amounts.
Our own woodworking class will be constructing the storage shed for the new track and field. Mr. Gustafson’s construction students designed the building and gave the administration an approximate cost for the project. We want to thank Builders First Source for donating much-needed tools and giving us a great deal on the supplies. We are excited to see the finished product, built by our own students.
Please keep in mind that we offer adult education classes through the school. Current classes include Conversational Spanish (Mondays and Wednesdays), Beginning Golf for Women (flexible), Fitness Bootcamp (early mornings!), Pickleball (Wednesday evenings), and Beginning Fly Tying (dates to be determined). Find more details and register via our “Everything Jefferson High School” page on Facebook. These are great opportunities for our community. If you have other ideas for classes you would like to attend or teach, please let us know and we will explore options. We can purchase some supplies and pay instructors $20/hour.
