A thrilling weekend of rodeo — then school beckons

The county’s largest weekend was just that with the parades, rodeos, and fun. Boulder was full of excitement.

The NRA rodeo was thrilling and kept the fans on the edge of their seats, and the Big Deal In-County rodeo saw many county residents competing and was a lot of fun to watch.

Ryan and Cassidy Parsons and Elle Werner took first in the team penning, Justin and Brittani Carey and Cory White took second, and Jamie Durham, Bobbie Neumann and Arena Faler third.

In team branding, it was Eddy, Marilyn, Quentin and Ashley McCauley in first place, with Brandon and Alex Nicholis, Taber Goff and Jenelle White second, and Ryan and Cassidy Parsons, Elle Werner and Sage Fadness third.

In goat tying, Cassidy Parsons ws first, Alysha Wilson second, and Allee Scafani third. Cassidy Parsons won the breakaway roping event, with Alysha Wilson second and Allanah Scafani third. Korbin Rintamaki took first in steer riding.

In ribbon roping, Al and Allie Scafani placed first, Quentin and Ashley McCauley second, and Cal and Arley Douglas third. Alysha Wilson won the barrel racing event, with Elle Werner second and  Alex Nicholls third. In team roping, Alysha Wilson and Bodi Briggs were first, Alysha Wilson and Dean Briggs second, and Craig Turk and Brandon Nicholls third.

Quentin McCauley was the All Around male winner, Alysha Wilson the All Around woman rider.

A few days later, school started at Jefferson High School, with a very large class of freshman  welcomed on Aug. 26 by the school staff. Practice for volleyball, cross country, flag football and football have been going since Aug. 16, with good participation across the board.  Volleyball will host Columbus on Thursday, Aug. 29, while football travels to Florence on Aug. 30. The cross country squad hosts the JHS Invitational meet in Boulder on Aug. 30. And flag football makes its debut Aug. 31 at the Hamilton Jamboree.

Looking forward to a great year at Jefferson High School.
