Just six days shy of her 73rd birthday, Sharon Seaman-Baker passed peacefully in her sleep following an extended illness, with her children Amber and John by her side. She was welcomed in the arms of her angels in the early morning hours of February 3, 2021.

Sharon was born February 9, 1948 to Richard “Dick” and Clara Lee Seaman in Santa Barbara, CA. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Williamsport, PA for her first 6 months of life before they made their way to Butte, Montana, where she would spend her childhood and most of her adult life. Some of Sharon’s best memories include all the neighborhood friends she made and the adventures and mischief they would get into in uptown Butte.

Sharon attended Butte schools, and after earning her GED, went to work at St. James East as a Nurse’s Aide.

In 1968, Sharon married her first husband, Frank Pierce, and together they had four children: Scott, Heather, Dawn and John.  They later divorced, and she took pride in raising her children on her own, often working several jobs to make ends meet.

In 1984, Sharon met the love of her life, her cowboy, Clifford Baker. Together they had a baby girl, Amber Jo in 1985, and shortly after her birth they moved to Boulder, which they called “home.” They made many lifetime friends, went on some unforgettable adventures, and made some amazing memories which are too numerous to mention.

Sharon worked various jobs during her life in Boulder, but the one that held her heart was her work with her “kids” at the Montana Developmental Center, where she worked for 20-plus years. After being forced into an early retirement due to a work-related injury, Sharon filled her days playing in her beautiful flower garden, cooking, adding to her ever-growing angel figurine collection, reading, watching her favorite television shows, especially Game of Thrones, and loving on her adorable puppies.

She also made time for her special friends Francie, Kathy, Mavis, her work son Floyd, and many others who she loved like family. She loved spending time with her children and eight precious grandchildren: Lacey Baker, Beau and Gavin Pierce, Ethan and Caleb Smartnick, Rheanna, Braydon, and Brody Pierce.

In 2012, Sharon was diagnosed with bladder cancer, she commanded that battle and remained cancer free until her death. Sharon faced every situation with courage, determination and humor, often catching her doctors and nurses off guard with her delightfully twisted sense of humor, which also got her through many tough moments in her life. Sharon’s strength, courage and humor were an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She left an indelible mark on the hearts and souls of those who love her, and she will be forever missed.

Those who welcomed Sharon in Heaven are her parents, Richard Seaman and Clara Lee Clark, stepfather Everett Clark, husband Clifford J. Baker, and in-laws Howard and Pauline Baker.

Sharon is survived by her siblings Bill Seaman, Joanne (Tim) Jacobson, Janice (Curly) Muniz, and Robert “Buzzy” Clark, all of Butte. She is also survived by her children Scott Pierce of Butte, Heather Pierce of Havre, Dawn (Ron) Smartnick of Boulder, John (Amber) Pierce of Butte, and Amber Baker of Boulder. She also dearly loved her niece and nephews, Jeanine Jacobson (and great niece Tylia of Dillon), Brian Jacobson (Battle Mountain, NV), and Rory Seaman (Butte).

Sharon’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Tom Weiner and his staff for the excellent care they provided her up until this past October. Sharon was forever grateful and fortunate to have him as her oncologist and primary doctor for the past nine years. We would also like to thank Frontier Hospice and her wonderful nurse Jessica Gadaire for providing comfort for moms last days.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Sharon this summer, date to be determined.
