Basin first responder recognized for service

Former Basin Volunteer Fire Chief Richard Rhodes doesn’t ask for accolades. He doesn’t expect anything in return for his work, which consists of whatever emergency comes his community’s way.

“I’m not the type that likes to be recognized for anything,” Rhodes said. “I just do my job. That’s all it is.”

Recently, however, Rhodes has been getting his fair share of attention, as he was recently featured in the Helena Independent Record’s “First Responders Appreciation” insert. People have been stopping Rhodes at the Silver Saddle and congratulating him, and he’s happy to say “thank you.” He’s glad to see people understand he’s there for them.
