The Montana Coaches Association held its annual coaches clinic last week in Great Falls with classes and other valuable information for Montana coaches and athletic directors. Part of the three-day program is a session to honor Montana high school coaches at a noon function where the general public is invited. In order to be nominated for “coach of the year” the coach must have their team place in the top three in the past school year. Jefferson High School Coach Sarah Layng received her second Montana coach of the year award with the boys track and field team winning the state title for the second year in a row. Coach Anna DeMars received the honor by leading the boys golf team to the state title this spring, a first for golf at Jefferson High School. Congratulations to the coaches and to the teams that took first at state. This is not an easy thing to do in class B, considering the amount of teams in these sports.
