Oliver “Kent” Olson, of Boulder, went to be with our Lord, on Tuesday February 8. A memorial graveside service will be planned and announced later in the Spring.
Oliver was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lengby, MN, and was a member of the American Legion. Condolences and memorials may be sent to P.O box 121 Boulder Mt.
Oliver was known as Kent or Uncle Kent to friends and family. He was born on the farm, between Bagley and Fostin, Minnesota, to Oliver Leonard Olson and Minda Bjore Olson. Oliver went to grade school there and got his high school GED. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force for four years and was honorably discharged in November, 1954.
Oliver then went to drafting school on the GI Bill and began working as a superintendent, building grain elevators for Jacobson & Sons Construction. He then was self-employed doing elevator repair with Olson and Sons.
After retiring, he worked with his brother-in-law, Gary Moran. Oliver traveled throughout the Montana Highline to Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, and the Dakotas, as well as Canada, building many grain elevators along the way.
Oliver met Leona “Una” Moran Ward in Kremlin, Montana, and married May 9, 1958. Together, they loved and raised five girls and two boys in the Brady, Conrad area. Oliver made sure they all took the Hunters Safety course.
Oliver and Leona were divorced for several years. Oliver went back to the farm and raised Belgium horses for a time, then moved to Boulder, where he and Leona remarried on February 1, 2012, and built a cabin.
Oliver loved to ice fish, spear fish and hunt big game from Montana to North Dakota to Minnesota. In his younger days, he enjoyed trap shooting, skiing, scuba diving, golf and bowling. He also very much loved dancing and taught his girls to waltz and jitterbug.
Proceeding Oliver in death were his wife Leona, his mother Minda and his father Oliver Leonard Olson, as well as brothers James Olson of Havre & Orin Olson; sister Theada of Bagley/Fostin; a daughter, Susie; and a granddaughter, Mari.
