Hoopsters close out 2023 with four emphatic bangs

As the year wound down, Jefferson High’s basketball squads bussed it to Lone Peak, a new conference rival on the edge of Yellowstone Park. There was a bit of snow on the ground in Big Sky — not what it usually is around now, but enough to give us a taste of real winter.

And in the Lone Peak gym, the Panthers gave us a taste of real basketball, racking up to lopsided wins over the Bighorns.

The girls got the action going, and Arena Faler got the scoring going. MacKenzie Layng added a free throw and followed with a three pointer, Ryian Eveland dropped in a bucket and the Panthers rushed out to a 18-3 lead at the end of one quarter.
