City Council weighs new grant opportunity

At its Nov. 20 meeting, the Boulder City Council reviewed an opportunity to apply for a new state grant of up to $110,000 to support operation and maintenance costs.

Montana House Bill 355, passed by the Legislature this year, allocates $267 million for infrastructure grants to maintain drinking water systems, sewer systems, roads and other facilities owned by counties, cities, towns and school districts.

To qualify for a grant, City Clerk Megan McCauley told the Council, the city must create and discuss a priority list of potential projects by Dec. 31, then hold a public meeting by Mar. 31, 2024 to discuss options.

The grant program requires that the city come up with matching funds for at least 25% of the total expense of whichever projects it chooses to pursue with the grant.
