Michael “Mike’ Jellison was born on May 2, 1963 to William Jellison and Judith Frank. He spent his youth growing up in Montana, graduating from Boulder High School in 1982. He joined the United States Army that same year at the age of 19. He spent four years on active duty, then joined the Reserves for another seven years, going active duty when needed.
Mike met the love of his life in 1977, and he and Bonnie married on Dec. 27, 1983. They began their marriage at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, WA, returning to Basin three years later. From 1987 to 2002, they lived in Billings while Mike and his older brother Monty owned and operated a gravel mine.
Mike called Basin home from 2002-2023. He passed away there on Oct. 13, with his wife by his side.
Mike is survived by his wife Bonnie, mother Judith Frank, older brother Monty Jellison (and his three children), younger sister Rhonda Croft (four children), along with two aunts, three uncles and various cousins.
Mike spent his time building trucks from the frame up. Bonnie affectionately called them “Mike’s Mutts,” because the builds included parts from all makes. He also enjoyed a good book and a long weekend fishing. His time in Basin was filled with community involvement, from the Water Board to the Volunteer Fire Department.
Everyone in Basin knew Mike as a friend, mechanic sounding board and the best bicycle fixer around. Those especially close knew him as Uncle Mike. Those who knew him will miss him dearly. Those who didn’t know him will never know what they missed.
Services will be held on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Basin Church of the Nazarene, with graveside services to follow at the Basin cemetery. Please join us for a potluck gathering in the Basin Community Hall at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please simply sign the guestbook that will be provided.
