“When looking for Main Street improvements, sometimes you have to look down,” Heritage Center volunteer Ellen Rae Thiel said.
Not only does the Heritage Center house a menagerie of Jefferson County history, but so does its entry way. The “historical step” — which reminds visitors that the building once housed Boulder’s bank — had started to disintegrate, Thiel told The Monitor. In the interest of safety and paying homage to history, the Heritage Center hired local J&D’s Concrete of Big Rock LLP to reconstruct the stairs adding some modern flair.“They did a wonderful job with a new, modern spin to the word ‘bank,’” Theil said.
