On Thursday, July 20, the Basin Water and Sewer District Board met at Basin School, where it approved a $105,903 bid by M & M Tank Coating Company Inc. to coat the interior of the water tank. Basin Water and Sewer Treasurer DeDe Rhodes said that the tank bid also includes some tank repair and comes with an option to coat the exterior.
The engineering estimate for the project was $93,900.
Rhodes added that there wasn’t much of a “sticker shock” involved with this final price, unlike other improvement bids, as replacing services, feed pumps and existing pump motors came in exponentially higher than the anticipated cost.
The board is still waiting to hear from Triple Tree Engineering on whether the low bid on the other project will negotiate a better price after some reductions were made. Bids came in double the expected amount of around $642,000.
The board will meet again on Thursday, Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Basin School.
