After four years of operation on Clancy’s main drag, the owners of Clancy Country Coffee shop located in Clancy has closed its doors.
The decision to close the shop was made public via Facebook following the Clancy Days celebrations on Saturday, June 3.
“We have poured our hearts and souls into it and just have not had the support that we thought the community would provide,” read the post curated by co-owners Leo and Suzi Wiggins, adding that it no longer made financial sense to continue business.
Business had originally boomed, Leo Wiggins told The Monitor, so much so that they opened Country Coffee 2 in East Helena. The Wiggins attempted to keep both businesses running, he said, but sales at the Clancy shop began to drop in November 2022, and as of late, the business has only broken even.
The County Beauty nail salon on the other hand – which Suzi Wiggins operates from the same lot as Clancy Country Coffee – has done exceptionally well and will continue to do business. Appointments at Country Beauty are often booked out a year in advance, Leo Wiggins said.
With Clancy Country Coffee closed, Leo Wiggins has focused his energies on the East Helena shop, located on the lot of the Canyon Ferry Mini Basket convenience store, and mentioned the possibility of moving the Clancy Country Coffee shack to a new location as well.
“It’s doing extremely well,” he said. “Thank you to all [who] have supported us over the years, and you can visit our East Helena location for the best cup of coffee in Montana.”
