Weekly COVID counts end

With the end on May 11 of the federal government’s declaration of a public health emergency, the Jefferson County Public Health Department has stopped weekly reporting of COVID-19 cases. In its place, the department on June 20 introduced a public health “snapshot” featuring monthly data on the incidence of COVID-19 and other diseases; the number of vaccines administered; and environmental health activities. Supervisor Pam Hanna described the snapshot as “an evolving process,” and said “the intent is to share relevant information with our constituents to increase awareness of conditions in the community and department activities.” The county reported 13 COVID-19 cases in May.
