JHS speech and debate team achieves charter status

With the summer still in its infancy, and the speech and debate season in the rearview, Jefferson High School’s Speech and Debate team rounded out the year with yet another distinction as it became one of 48 schools nationwide to receive national charter status through The National Speech and Debate Association.

JHS was honored on June 1, with the announcement that it would join the ranks of some of the most impressive S&D programs across the country.

“This achievement is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the students on the team. I could not be more proud of each and every one of them,” explained Aubrie Carey, who serves as one of two head coaches. “These young adults hold themselves to the highest standard of excellence, and this latest recognition is the accumulation of several years worth of awards and achievements.”
