Clancy School weighs tax options

The Clancy Elementary School Board continues to wrestle possibilities for spending nearly $2 million in reserved tax proceeds.

At their Dec. 11 meeting, trustees considered options for using the funds to upgrade or add to school facilities, focusing on improvements that students and visitors would take notice of.

Clancy Elementary still has $1.2 million remaining from a 2021 disbursement of Metal Mines Tax revenue generated by the Montana Tunnels Mine outside Jefferson City. (It stands to collect another $800,000 if the company, currently in bankruptcy, pays the full amount of the taxes it owes; see story, page 1.)
