I think Jonathan Thompson’s implication that Montanans might have ousted Tester in the Senate race because the number of billionaires moving into the state swung the race to Sheey’s side is pretty silly. (“What the Tester-Sheehy battle says about Montana,” Nov. 6)
The article assumes all billionaires vote for Republicans. Ever heard of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett? Also, the number of billionaires is always very small compared to the number of ordinary people like me.
Even though Tester did a good job of representing Montana in many ways, voters obviously didn’t like how he marched in lock step with Biden on some things. Montanans care about other issues besides gun control: immigration, inflation, Afghanistan, and social issues to name a few. Biden and Harris made a mess of those issues, and we didn’t forget about them when we went to the polls.
