]While bright red crosswalks have emerged on Boulder’s Main Street courtesy of the state Department of Transportation, the banners that now adorn Boulder were sourced and placed by a group of local volunteers.
Reimagining Boulder, a group dedicated to the improvement and beautification of Boulder’s public spaces, has hung 15 banners on Main Street depicting images of local wilderness areas, attractions, and popular seasonal events. Reimagining Boulder accomplished the effort through a $2,000 grant awarded to the group by the Montana Community Foundation last spring.
“There are 32 frames on Main Street, but we only had the money to place 15 banners,” said Reimagining Boulder organizer Mechele Anderson. “We’re still hoping for other organizations in town to purchase banners, or contribute in other ways. The project has been on our radar for a while now, and we were finally able to get the time and money together to pull it off. I think everyone seems to like them.”
