In defensive struggle, flag football makes its home debut

The first-ever organized flag football home game for Jefferson High School played out Sep. 5, when the Lady Panthers hosted the Lady Bulldogs from Butte High. 

The game got off to a shaky start: both teams were flagged for offsides before the first snap. After getting over those jitters, though, both teams got serious. The defenses dominated in a scoreless first half, but some very nice plays were recorded by both teams. 

Late in the third quarter, Butte found the end zone for the first time on a nice catch and run play that got past the Panther defenders. The point after — a scrimmage play from the 5 yard line — failed, and Butte led 6-0 after three.
