Jason Dean Sullivan, born on Oct. 12, 1973, tragically passed away on the morning of July 31, 2024, in a car accident on his way to work involving a wrong-way driver. Some of you may know him as Meats.

A proud graduate of Jefferson High School, Jason excelled in sports. He was named Jefferson High’s all-around athlete his senior year, playing basketball, football, and track, notably going to State in track for the shot put and participating in the all-star game for football. He was known for his excellent skills in setting a screen in basketball.

Shortly after graduation, Jason enlisted in the U.S. Army (1993-1996). In the fall of 1993 he was selected as an honor graduate of his class at Fort Sill, Ok., in the 13F (Forward Observer) Military Occupational Specialty. Jason was an Air Assault School graduate and proudly served near the 38th Parallel in Korea and the Panama Canal.

After the completion of his military service, Jason went on to the University of Montana and graduated with a degree in education, and he was remarkable at working with children. His career included teaching and counseling students, as well as working in the oil field and mining. Jason was currently employed with Magris Talc, where he  truly enjoyed his time with coworkers.

From a young age, Jason loved mountains and elk. He enjoyed talking about elk, looking at elk, and hunting elk. His passions extended to hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and 4-wheeling. Jason shared his love of the outdoors with his girls, taking them hunting, shed hunting, 4-wheeling or for a drive to look for critters. One of their most recent adventures included a trip to the Hiawatha trail. Jason was always proud to share the latest accomplishments in his girls’ lives.

Jason’s charm, humor, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His friends will be reminded of him in their favorite songs, as he found many ways to add “Meats” to the lyrics. His warmth and compassion made him a remarkable father, son, teacher, and friend.

Jason is survived by his beloved daughters, Ashley Sullivan and Lily Sullivan; his father, Dennis Sullivan; his brother, Shannon Sullivan, sister-in-law Amy Sullivan and niece Brenna; his sister Sheila Miholland; sister-in-law Katie and nephews Jered, Jeyden, Jeyce, and Jestin. He is also survived by his former spouse, Nichole Sullivan; the mother of his daughter Ashley, Jolene Helgerson; and numerous friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Terrie Sullivan.

Jason will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Centennial Park/Golfer Stadium in Boulder on Aug. 16,  4:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. This will be a potluck; please bring your own chair.
