This week, 5/19/24-5/25/24 is Emergency Medical Services appreciation week. It is important that we as a community support the work of our local responders and highlight the life-saving work of these dedicated providers.

This year marks 50 years since the first EMS Week was recognized by President Gerald Ford. This year’s theme, “Honoring our past. Forging our future,” intends to remind providers of the history of the profession and to look forward to the advances to come.

“This year, we celebrate EMS Week by honoring our past—by taking a pause to recognize the contributions of each generation, the people who dreamed that we could save more lives and have less suffering, and then found ways to make it happen. EMS Week is never just about the past, however. It’s also about inspiring the EMS professionals just starting out and the young people who haven’t even discovered EMS yet. It’s about learning from the challenges and building on the successes of the last five decades. It’s about forging our future—a future in which the next generation has the tools they need to deliver compassionate care and alleviate suffering in communities everywhere.”

This week is about honoring the members in our community who go above and beyond what’s expected of them. We thank each member of the Boulder Ambulance Service for your unwavering commitment to serve our community. Your dedication and sacrifice are an inspiration to all. We would also like to acknowledge the family of Boulder Ambulance Service members whose support is critical to their success.
