New faces and fond farewells at Jefferson High School

We are pleased to announce the hire of a new counselor to Jefferson High School. Devyn Ottman will be joining our team for the 2024-2025 school year. She comes to us from Boulder Elementary and will be an asset to our school. I also want to take the time to thank Joe Michaud for his nine years of service as our current counselor. Joe has accepted a position at Carroll College. We will also be losing Scott Ferguson, who currently teaches English. We wish the best for Mr. Michaud and Mr. Ferguson.

The construction project is really beginning to give us a vision of what the final building will look like. The plan is to move several of the classrooms during the last week of school to clear out some of the old classrooms for upgrades. The new addition as well as the CTE extension look great and carry our panther pride throughout. We will have an open house at the beginning of next school year, so our community has a chance to see the new additions.

We have several students getting ready to take AP (Advance Placement) exams during the month of May. AP classes and exams are designed to get some college pre-requisites out of the way while in high school. Students will be taking AP exams for Government and Politics, Literature, Psychology, and Language. Approximately 32 students are participating.

The days are counting down to the end of the 2023-2024 school year. Graduation is scheduled for May 26. The last day of school for everyone else is May 31, which is a Friday. Students will be released at noon, so most of the morning will be spent checking out. It’s been a great year, and we are fortunate to have such a great group of students in our school.
