The Clancy Volunteer Fire Department elected Greg Robson its full-term chief at its first monthly business meeting of the year on Jan. 3.

The chief’s position had been vacant since September, when Tracy Leibbrandt, who had held the post for four years, abruptly resigned after he moved out of state. Robson was elected interim chief until the formal election of officers.

Robson will now serve a full two-year term as the department’s operations leader. He first joined the department in July, 1998, and has served as captain and training officer during those years. Dan Richter, who challenged Robson for the chief position, will continue to serve as the department’s captain.

After the meeting, Robson said he was glad that the election results would ensure continuity in the chief position, making preparations for the upcoming wildfire season easier to manage. He said he foresees no major changes during his term: “I’m still trying to just get my feet under me.”

The current department treasurer, John Davis, was re-elected to serve another term in the position, defeating David Sedlock. During his time as treasurer, Davis has managed some large transactions for CVFD, including the purchase of a new structure truck last year. Davis says he is looking forward to upgrading and modernizing the department’s accounting system in the next few months.

Clancy VFD will hold elections for the other two positions, business president and secretary, in January, 2025..
