If he wasn’t outside, he was building

Joe Chance was a husband and father, brother and son. We were all blessed by him, me in more ways than I can count.

But he also loved the outdoors. He came by this naturally; his father was the same. Joe was always in the woods to hunt or cut wood. Or he was on a stream, with a fly rod in his hand and one of our dogs waiting on the banks for him to say, “fish on.” That was the signal for the dog to run into the stream and smell the fish before it was released. 

And when he wasn’t outside, Joe was building. He was given a talent by God to create beautiful works of art. Whether it was remodeling someone’s home or crafting furniture, he was always building something. Each piece was a jewel, made out of love for the person he made it for.
