Hide and seek with fox kits

While I pride myself on finding most of my subjects through research and time in the field, sometimes a tip from a friend really pays off. That was the case when a friend told me about a red fox den and guided me to the location.

Due to my busy schedule, I only had one morning to attempt to capture some pictures. It was a cloudy day, and with the unfavorable light I was not optimistic that I would get any good pictures.

At first there was just a single pup hanging out near the den, so Scot and I took our time finding a suitable location to set up my camera. Close enough to capture pictures, while maintaining an ethical distance from the foxes and the den (about 100 yards).
