Ellermeyer, 57, currently works as a realtor at Big Sky Brokers and has been serving on the East Helena school board for over 20 years.

Ellermeyer has deep ties to Montana. Her father, originally from Great Falls, relocated east to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he raised his family. In 1994, Ellermeyer and her husband returned to Montana, settling in the East Helena school district to raise their own children.

Ellermeyer said she still has a lot to offer the school board via her years of experience, and highlighted the stability and consistency that her continued presence on the board would bring. East Helena is expecting growth, she said, adding that it is most important for the school board to be fiscally responsible while providing quality education.

When Ellermeyer first ran for election, she said the school board was struggling financially. At the time, she was grappling with how to educate her own four-year-old son and decided that volunteering on the school board was the best way to serve her community.

Ellermeyer said that she is most proud of the school board’s achievement in constructing the new high school. The establishment of the high school was the result of six years of legislative sessions, during which the board successfully worked to transition East Helena’s school district into a K-12 district.

Ellermeyer said that serving on the school board has been a “privilege” and highlighted that the accomplishments of the school board have been a “team effort.”

“I enjoy serving the school district and the community in that way,” she said.
