The process of promoting Jefferson County’s recreational opportunities is moving along, County Events Coordinator Bruce
Binkowski told the county commissioners last week. Binkowski, Melissa Morris, and LaDana Hintz, who head the mapping and planning departments, are working together on the project. The three department heads said they have applied for a Montana Department of Tourism grant to help pay for the development of a website. Binkowski is gathering the data and information for the site, he said, and the plan is to launch the site next spring.
The trio also met with Forest Service representatives and said they have been partnering with them on issues. Morris said the trails are mapped but she still has to look at some to assess the conditions. “We’ve got a lot of Forest Service roads, particularly over in the Bernice area, that I’ve never laid eyes on,” she said.
