Two area residents have been appointed by the governor to serve on citizen boards. Tara Mastel of Whitehall has been appointed by Governor Steve Bullock to the Montana Agriculture Development Council.
Mastel is an Associate Specialist with the Mon- tana State University Local Government Center. She previously headed the Jefferson Local Development Corporation, the county’s economic development arm, for more than a decade. During her time with the JLDC, she helped guide Boulder through the
Horizons project, assisted with the formation of the Elkhorn Community Foundation, organized training on a variety of topics for area business owners and entrepreneurs, helped Boulder carry out an affordable housing project, and more.
In announcing her appointment, the governor’s office noted her continuing active involvement in agriculture and her roots from homestead families. Vicky Byrd of Clancy has been named to the Montana State Workforce Innovation Board. The executive director of the Montana Nurses Association, Byrd will serve as a workforce representative.
