Driver in Montana City crash was awaiting sentencing ADMITTED THEFT FROM MONTANA CITY HOME IN COURT TWO WEEKS BEFORE

Last Wednesday’s crash at the Montana City roundabout after a high-speed chase past the Montana City School was not the first brush with law enforcement for Christopher Gransberg. Not only was Gransberg on probation for an offense in Richland County, but he was also awaiting sentencing for felony theft in Jefferson County.

Gransberg, 26, and his wife, Lacy Camay Gransberg, had both admitted a January 14 theft from the home of her uncle in Montana City. The event came only two weeks after Gransberg entered a guilty plea to felony theft in the district court in Boulder.

According to law enforcement, Wednesday’s chase began on Highway 12 when an officer attempted a traffic stop for driving with a revoked license. Gransberg sped up and turned south on Highway 518, at times reaching speeds near 100 miles per hour, officers said.
