Boulder Development Board takes first steps

The Boulder Development Fund Board is on its way to getting organized and moving forward with options for revitalizing the community.

The BDF was created in response to a $500,000 allocation from the 2017 state legislature to help mitigate the economic impacts of job cuts at the Montana Developmental Center. The board is intended to advise the Boulder City Council on the expenditure of the funds.

Although the legislature approved the allocation, legislation did not spell out the mechanics of distributing the funds to the community, something that has slowed the process in recent months. During the legislative session, the Department of Public Health and Human Services, as the arm that oversees the MDC, also oversaw the legislation.
