Three-way race for mayor set

Boulder voters will have their choice of three candidates for mayor when the city’s primary election is held in September. Incumbent Mayor Gary Craft faces a challenge from two opponents, Lori Smith and Rusty Giulio. The race is for a four year term. The September primary will pare the field to two candidates who will face off on the November ballot. Also filing by Monday’s 5 p.m. deadline were candidates for council seats. 

In Ward 1, incumbent Gary Richardson will be going against Drew Dawson in a bid for a four year term. In Ward 2, incumbent Sherry Lepley filed for a four-year term. It will be her first time on the ballot for Boulder City Council since she was previously appointed to fill a vacancy created by the departure of Fritz Bieler, who moved out of the city limits. No one filed to run against Lepley.
