Saturday packed with spring celebrations and fun events

RELATED

Locals have decided spring is here, and three events set for Saturday hope to take full advantage of the season. Beginning at 10 a.m., runners will take off for the Mariah’s Challenge Color Run. The event will give runners a chance to have some fun while helping two good causes – the Mariah’s Challenge program which works to address teen alcohol abuse and the Jefferson County Mental Health Local Advisory Council, a group working to improve awareness and services for those with mental health issues. Details about the event are included in an ad in this issue.

Also beginning at 10 a.m. is the Green Your Spring annual event at the Boulder Elementary School. Sponsored by Growing Community Naturally, the event features plant starters, indoor plants and seeds for gardening. It also includes information booths and vendors along with a potluck. The gathering runs until 2 p.m. More information on Green Your Spring appears in this issue.

Then at 3 p.m. the Boulder Area Recreational Trails Committee (BART/COM) has scheduled the dedication of the Carol LeRoux Memorial Path from Boulder to the fairgrounds. The trail, the fruit of a lot of hard work by BART/COM members, is named in memory of a Boulder woman who loved the outdoors as well as the people she touched in her life. The observance will also include the dedication of the bike shelter erected at the fairgrounds. Supporters say they are anxious to show off the facility intended to provide accommodations for bicyclists passing through the area. For questions about that event, contact Carolyn Lewis.
