The month of February is upon us and the school year is moving into the second semester. The first semester was full of many successes for JHS students, ranging from academics to extracurricular.
There have been a number of events occurring with the students at JHS, but one of great significance was the recent Strategic Planning session held Tuesday, January 24. The afternoon of the 24th consisted of a Strategic Planning session involving the school board, administration, faculty, staff, and the entire JHS student population. It is believed to be the first planning session of this type involving the entire student population. The session was organized into 15 groups consisting of a mix of school board members, administration, faculty, staff, and students.
A series of questions were given to prompt discussion on what can occur to make JHS better, what seems to be working, what needs more work, and what is best for meeting the needs of JHS students. Following a couple of hours of this small group activity, the groups were brought together in the gyms and student facilitators presented to the whole group what they had discussed. After each presentation, there was a question and answer session.
