Montana Jo Rebecah Kunz was not in any big hurry to get out into the world. The 8 pound, 1 ounce, 20.5 inch daughter of Dustin and Ginger Kunz of Jefferson City did not emerge on New Year’s Day (her supposed due date), or the day after for that matter, but she still managed to secure the crown of the first baby of the New Year born in Butte. Seeing the world for the first time at St. James Healthcare, the newcomer managed to beat out two others who arrived later on Tuesday, January 3. T
he newborn, a source of great joy for some doting grandparents, is the granddaughter of Bob and Terri Kunz of Jefferson City and Joanna Ulsher of Boulder and J.J. Crowley of Ryegate. Both parents are long-time Jefferson County residents, with Dustin growing up in Jefferson City and Ginger Crowley Kunz in Boulder. The new mother said the baby is their first child. She and Dustin are both Montana Tech grads, and the Tech Alumni Association has said a gift will be coming, she said. Dustin works in carpentry and she is employed at the Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder’s Office.
