What do the Major League Baseball 1984 and 1998 World Series, the MLB 1992 All Star Game, the 1988 and 1993 Super Bowls and the Western Athletic Conference Basketball Tournaments of 1992-98 have in common? Would the answer be easier if Boulder, Montana was added to the list? The answer: Bruce Binkowski.
Binkowski, the public address announcer for all those big sporting events, is now a resident of Boulder and is looking to bring the many talents that put him in that fortunate announcing position to benefit Jefferson County as the county’s newly hired events coordinator. Coordinating events is well within his wheelhouse.
In 38 years with the San Diego Bowl Game Association in California, Binkowski moved up from public relations director to marketing director to associate director to executive director. In that job, his work involved year-round promotions for two bowl games. The promotional events included planning and managing a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, a golf tournament, “wiener dog” races, a hole-in-one contest, a bicycle tour and a big balloon parade.
