Helena woman: Jefferson City hunter is a life saver

A Helena woman who got stuck in the woods with her son and daughter with developmental disabilities said she owes far more than she can give to the hunters who saved her.

Lisa Kaufman and her children set out to cut firewood in northern Jefferson County on Saturday, October 20. Snow covered the South Fork of Quartz Creek and her truck got stuck. A flat tire added to her woes.

Recognizing she was not going to get out, she called friends and was able to report where she was. But then her cell phone went dead, and the friends, unfamiliar with the area, did not locate her.
