Whitehall man profited from defrauding elderly

A Whitehall man sentenced in federal court in mid-June of international fraud was being paid about $20,000 a month, court records say.

Thomas Ressler, 66, was sentenced June 12 to 36 months in prison for targetting elderly victims with fraudulent prize award notices.

According to court records, Ressler “falsely notified victims that they had won a large amount of money or other valuable prize, such as a luxury vehicle, in a sweepstakes, lottery, or other contest.”
