“Thank you for all you do to help these guys be so successful.”

With those words, Boulder Elementary Principal/Superintendent Maria Pace greeted the roomful of proud parents, grandparents, siblings and friends on hand for the eighth grade Class of 2018 graduation June 5.

Seventeen students completed their careers at the school and prepared to move on to bigger and better things.

The class heard words of advice from Boulder Mayor Rusty Giulio. After pointing out that the parents in the audience were proud of their sons and daughters, Giulio joked, “Today may be a good day to ask for money.”

He encouraged them to dedicate themselves to “making the next year even better,” and urged them not to “rush past the great times of your life.”

Student Gracie Leiva spoke to her classmates, inviting them to take risks to get the most from life.

Another address by class member Kacey Coster was less traditional, thanking classmates and school staff for helping her past some challenging times. (See separate article.)

After a slide show featuring the students from a younger age, the graduates presented roses to the special people in the audience who had supported them in getting where they are. The presentation of diplomas closed out the evening.

Graduating were Saraliba Auch, Spurr Chapman, Briana Cornejo-Garcia, Kacey Coster, Blake Lehner-Aguirre, Gracie Leiva, Clara Lufkin, Payton Miller-Johnson, Braden Morris, Shealynn Mundy, Tristen Niemeir, Wade Rykal, Makinzy Rynearson-Gray, Adam Sim, Shae VanValkenburgh, Zoei White and Shayna Williams.
