Jefferson High tennis players Renee Yu, Leah Vossler, Kylie Marks and Laurynn Armstrong traveled to Great Falls for the State B-C Tennis Tournament last week. The girls qualified for the State tournament at the divisional tournament the week before. The state tournament was forced indoors by the rain, but the action was still exciting.
Renee Yu had a great tournament, going 3-2 in the three day tournament. Yu defeated Lily Surber of Chinook 6-0, 6-0, and came from behind to beat Naemi Wipf of Fairfield 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. After leading her third match 6-3, she was defeated by Grace Daniel of Missoula Loyola 6-3, 0-6, 4-6. Yu came back strong to beat Hailey Mills of Fairfield 6-1, 6-1 before she was edged out by Jess Barnett of Broadwater 6-7 (5), 4-6.
Leah Vossler lost to Christine Funk of Choteau 3-6, 1-6, but then beat Elsa Podesta of Darby 6-0, 7-6 (3). She was eliminated from play by a loss to Kimber Schlapman of Darby 4-6, 6-1, 3-6.
