JHS senior wins national recognition for graphic design, promotion skills

With thousands of students from all across the United States cheering, Jefferson High School senior Katy Twichel was honored for her graphic design abilities last week in Dallas, Texas.

Twichel competed at the May 10-13 Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference and finished in the top ten competitors in Graphic Design Promotion. For her entry, she had to develop a theme, illustrate the theme in a logo design and then use the logo in a promotional flyer.

The competition was a multiple step effort in which the number of competitors was trimmed from scores of entrants to a dozen. Twichel and her fellow entrants then had to present their entries again to see who made the top ten.
