Convicted child rapist asks court for new trial

Timothy Cheetham, Sr., had inadequate legal representation when he was convicted of sexual offenses in 2014 and deserves a new trial, his new attorney told the district court last week.

The trial attorney failed to pursue a medical report with enough diligence and he denied Cheetham a chance to take the witness stand in his own defense, claimed Cheetham’s current attorney Greg Beebe.

“Every citizen deserves a fair trial and he was deprived of one,” said Beebe.
