National Honor Society induction celebrated

Eighteen students were inducted into the Jefferson High School National Honor Society on April 16. Those students, along with the previously inducted NHS members, represent the best JHS has to offer in scholarship, service, leadership and character.

Those four principals are the basis of the National Honor Society and they were emphasized in the induction ceremony with a pledge, a candle lighting ceremony, the presentation of pins and certificates, and the words of guest speaker Mary Williams, JHS science teacher.

The goals have also been drummed into the NHS members over their high school years by the group’s advisors for the past 15-16 years, Victoria Foster and Steve McCauley. Foster, who is retiring at the end of the school year, will be missed, said McCauley.
