The month of February is behind us, one full of snow, cold, and school events and successes. I was able to take in the Montana State All Class wrestling tournament, a great spectacle, and watch the JHS Panthers perform quite well. Nate Burnett finished 2nd, Nick Workman 5th, and Travis Jacob 6th. The rest of the team helped lead the team to a 10th overall finish in the B-C ranks. Congratulations to all the wrestlers, coaches, cheerleaders, and parents for a great year. The program is growing and I look for great things in the future.
The winter basketball season concluded as well with the JHS Lady Panthers finishing 3rd in Districts and one win out of state qualifying. The ladies opened with a great come from behind win over Red Lodge followed by two 4-point losses in highly ranked Colstrip and St. Labre. Again, congratulations to all the players, coaches, cheerleaders, band and parents. I also want to thank the JHS Booster Club for providing Spirit Bags for these events. The Booster Club’s continued support of all JHS events is greatly appreciated. Thanks for all your time, talents, and support of student participants at JHS.
This past month has been busy with a variety of school activities. School visits occurred at Boulder Elementary, Clancy, and Montana City as Jefferson High School started the enrollment process for the 2018-19 school year. Students and staff gave presentations to 8th grade students about all the happenings at JHS. The students did a great job letting 8th grade students know about the opportunities available at JHS. Preliminary numbers show the possibility of continued growth at JHS. The official student count for this year is 262 students.
