“It was great to see so many people show up. It shows that people care about the fairgrounds.”
That was the reaction of Gene Compton, Boulder Valley rancher, after the Jefferson County Fairgrounds public meeting on February 27. Part of the fairgrounds master plan process, the meeting gathered public input on improvements over the next ten years being considered by the Jefferson County Fair Board.
Held in the Volunteer Hall on the fairgrounds, the open house was organized by the fair board and Jerry Grebenc, Great West Engineering, contractor for the master plan. The more than 80 people who attended were asked to read posters with proposed improvements and indicate what they considered to be an important priority. Improvement categories included the arena, buildings, landscaping, lighting, maintenance, parking, playground, recreation facilities, signage, mini-trains and trails. There was also room for people to add their own ideas.
