Asked whether the county commission can do something about the weather with extremely low temperatures and heavy snows, Commissioner Leonard Wortman delivered a tongue in cheek response: “This is government. Give us a couple weeks and we’ll have it straightened out for you.”

The light-hearted moment came during a discussion about the challenges the county road department faced in recent days. A “two-foot Friday” meant overtime was needed to get roads cleared, and another heavy hit of snow on Sunday required the temporary closure of a couple of roads, reported Commission Chair Cory Kirsch. The commissioners said the public had been very understanding and patient about the issues.

Another item on the commission agenda included more serious comments.
