City council to discuss city attorney position

A discussion of calling for applications to serve as the Boulder City Attorney is on the city council agenda for Tuesday, February 20. The meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will be held at city hall.

The topic, part of a lengthy agenda, will be the first formal discussion by the council of whether to replace current City Attorney Steven Shapiro, although previous meetings have made it clear Mayor Rusty Giulio and some council members are displeased with Shapiro.

At the November city council meeting, after he had been elected but before his January swearing in, Giulio opposed a motion to increase Shapiro’s pay.
