Case managers worry over cuts

Before the State of Montana has even finished closing the Montana Developmental Center, service providers who do targeted case management for Montanans with developmental disabilities are bemoaning budget cutbacks they say will hurt those clients.

According to an article published December 27 in the Helena Independent Record, “State budget cuts to eliminate 70+ jobs that help Montanans with developmental disabilities,” an estimated 2100 Montanans could lose services.

The IR article said none of the four affected providers – A.W.A.R.E. Inc., Opportunity Resources, Helena Industries and Central Montana Medical Center – said they could absorb the costs.
