Boulderites have two write-in candidates to choose from in City Council election

Boulder residents who received a mail ballot for Boulder City Council’s Ward One election might have been confused for the lack of candidates’ names to choose from. That’s because both candidates — Gyle D. Nix and John “Cody” Oliver — filed as write-in candidates.

Nix, an independent contractor and handyman, retired volunteer firefighter and site manager for Habitat for Humanity, currently represents Ward One on the City Council. He was appointed to the position Aug. 19. His desire to serve as a council member, he said in an interview,  stems from a belief that as citizens of Boulder “we all owe something” to participate in the community.

Noting progress the City Council and its various committees has made in planning and other areas, Nix said that there still is “a lot of work ahead of us, and I want to be a part of it.”
