It’s almost time. The first day of school for the freshman class is Aug. 26 and the following day for everyone else. So here we go sports fans, get ready to support the Panthers!
Congratulations Panther girls!
The Jefferson High School Girls Track and Field team earned the honor of being the highest girls track team in class B, Montana with a 3.685 grade point average. The award will be presented sometime this fall from the Montana Army National Guard and the Montana High School Association. The award is given to varsity team that exhibits outstanding achievement in the fourth quarter.
Fall sports
Fall sports practice starts Friday — the official first day of practice for MHSA schools — for football, volleyball, cross country and cheerleading. Practice times and practice bus times will be provided by coaches and posted to the Jefferson High School website.
The first football game is Aug. 30 against Florence. The game will be played at the University of Montana football field in Missoula. Start time is 7 p.m. The Jefferson High cross country teams will host the first meet of the year on Aug. 24 in Boulder with a start time of 9:30 a.m. Volleyball will have its first action on Aug. 31 in Manhattan at the Manhattan quad meet.
Not Boulder’s first rodeos
The annual Jefferson County In-County rodeo will kick off Aug. 22 (as will kids rodeo and fair activities). The NRA rodeo is Aug. 23-24 at the Jefferson County rodeo grounds. One of the best NRA rodeos in Montana will have plenty of action for everyone, good food and fun for all ages.
The fair board and rodeo committee work many hours during the year to put on this great weekend in Boulder. Plan to attend and show your support.
