The Boulder City Council appointed a new member at its Aug. 19 meeting.
Gyle Nix was voted in unanimously to fill the seat vacated Aug. 1 by Shane Maichel, who moved outside the area. Nix’s appointment will last until whoever is elected to that seat in the 2019 general election.
Other actions taken that night by the City Council include:
- Unanimously approving acceptance of two items related to a Boulder branding and marketing campaign created by the agency Windfall: a package including a strategic marketing plan, and a style guide defining a series of logos that will officially represent the City of Boulder. Councilors also agreed that Windfall fulfilled the terms of its contract and that a logo use agreement be drawn up to regulate the use of Boulder’s logos.
- Unanimously voting to deny a claim of $3,124.55 in damages submitted by Guy and Debra Davidson of Clancy. The Davidsons sought reimbursement for repairs to a satellite dish on their fifth-wheel trailer that was damaged July 3 when it got caught up in a power line next to City Hall. The city also discussed billing the Davidsons $442.81 for damages and repairs incurred as a result of the mishap.
- Tabling until the next meeting a discussion regarding a Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks grant that could be used as matching funds for community parks projects. Council members wanted to postpone any decision on the matter until after the fiscal year 2020 budget is shored up.
- Unanimously agreeing to repeal Ordinance 2008-02, which established the former map of the City of Boulder. The repeal followed the recent establishment of a new map.
- Unanimously voting to choose Strom and Associates of Helena to be the city’s auditors.
