Quick notes from the Board of Commissioner’s Office

Jefferson County Commissioner Cory Kirsch.

RELATED

Our road department has been busy with projects throughout the county this summer. They have been fixing parts of roads that had major frost heave damage from the significant winter we had earlier this year. They have been prepping roads for dust oil but have had to postpone the application of it because of the constant rain we have been getting. They have also been doing their normal grading and graveling. We appreciate their hard work and great job on the roads we use every day.

Talks about the transfer and reutilization of the Montana Developmental Center campus have been ongoing and positive. The State of Montana is in the process of figuring out who owns what portion of the many parcels that make up the north campus. After that, they will begin to put it all under the same ownership to make a transfer much less complicated. The county is presently working on a business plan for the north campus in the event this transfer does eventually happen. If you are interested in learning more about this exciting project, please join us at our monthly meeting held at Boulder City Hall the last Wednesday of every month at 10 a.m.

Lastly, I wanted to thank Doug Dodge, our DES (Disaster and Emergency Services) coordinator, for successfully applying for and receiving a grant for $150,000 to update our aging 911 system in the Sheriff’s Office. This is a much needed upgrade and this grant will save the county from having to find the money elsewhere.
